$product = $this->products->get($sku);There is no single rate for Magento developers. Cost depends on the seniority you need, the engagement model you choose (adding developers to your team, a dedicated team, or a fixed-price project), how long the engagement runs and the scope of the work. For Magento work, the biggest drivers are the number and quality of installed extensions, whether the store runs Luma or Hyvä, how far behind the current 2.4.x release it is, and how many integrations with ERP, PIM or order management systems are in scope. Share your requirements and we will come back with a quote for your situation.
You tell us the technology, seniority, role and team structure you need. We recommend Magento developer profiles that match those requirements, and you review the profiles and speak with the engineers yourself before anyone joins your team. When you interview, the areas worth testing are choosing between plugins, observers and preferences when changing core behavior; declaring service contracts and repositories for a custom module; indexer modes, cron configuration and diagnosing stuck indexes; full-page caching with Varnish and hole-punching for customer-specific blocks; planning a 2.4.x upgrade including PHP, OpenSearch and extension compatibility; and building a Hyvä-compatible frontend for a third-party extension.
It depends on which engineers with the right skills are available when you get in touch, so we do not publish a fixed start date. Availability is part of the conversation when we recommend profiles, and the start date is agreed with you before the engagement begins.
Because you interview the engineers before anyone joins, fit is tested before work starts. If concerns come up once the engagement is running, raise them with us directly. How changes to the team are handled is set out in the terms you agree with us at the start.
A freelancer suits small, well-defined tasks you can manage yourself. A dedicated developer joins your team under your direction. A dedicated team adds several roles around your product, and a project-based team delivers a defined outcome end to end.
They work in your time zone or with a meaningful overlap agreed up front, and inside your own tools and process: Slack or Teams, Jira, GitHub or GitLab, your standups, sprint planning and code review.
Usually, yes. We profile the store to find the real bottleneck, often third-party extensions, cache configuration, indexers or the frontend theme, and fix those. Moving to a Hyvä frontend is a common improvement for storefront speed.
We check whether it uses plugins and observers instead of class preferences or core overrides, follows service contracts, declares its dependencies in composer.json, and passes the Magento coding standard. We also look at supported 2.4.x versions and the vendor's patch history, since abandoned extensions are a common blocker during upgrades.
Magento precomputes prices, stock, URL rewrites and catalog search data through indexers. With Update by Schedule, changes are processed by cron through changelog tables, so a stalled cron job means prices or stock on the storefront stop matching the admin. Monitoring the cron and indexer status prevents most of these issues.
Current Magento 2.4.x releases use OpenSearch as the catalog search engine, with Elasticsearch support deprecated in recent versions. Moving an older store over means checking extension compatibility, reindexing the catalog and retuning search relevance, synonyms and attribute weighting, since results rarely match exactly after the switch.
We use Magento's REST or GraphQL APIs, asynchronous bulk endpoints for large imports, and message queues backed by RabbitMQ for order and stock events. Mapping of SKUs, attribute sets, customer groups and tax classes is agreed before build, because mismatched identifiers cause most integration failures after launch.
